As promised, here’s my update on my trip to the outback last week ???? While it’s never been too high on my bucket list, it turned out to be an awesome experience – much more so than I’d imagined!! I flew into Ayers Rock airport and met up with Charlene (a girl from the UK who I’d met only twice before in Sydney), grabbed the free shuttle to Ayers Rock Resort Campground in Yulara, and we proceeded to set up our tiny $15 tent (budget travel!)
We explored the campground, which was nice as it included an outdoor kitchen, bathrooms, and showers, and then headed straight to relax at one of the pools since we knew the next few days would be pretty full on. A few hours after sunset we went on our first tour, a stargazing experience with Outback Sky Journeys, where we received a brief astronomy lesson and the chance to explore the night sky. We were greeted with some absolutely breathtaking views – it’s amazing how much more you can see when there are no city lights. Click here for my full account of the Outback Sky Journeys experience.
