My husband came home with different cuts of deer meat a friend gave him recently. One of the treats was meatloaf, already made from the deer processor. I was a little skeptical at first…Does it have onions, peppers, breadcrumbs??? It looked like it was ready to go all you had to do was bake it. Of course, we had to add some things to spice it up a bit…Edward wanted to make sure it stayed moist so he layered bacon strips on top. Then we added a glaze that consisted of brown sugar, ketchup, and vinegar. This was by far the best meatloaf I’ve ever eaten. The deer meat tasted so fresh and the bacon flavor/glaze was the perfect touch. We did not make our own meatloaf but if I did, this is the recipe I would use Great Meatloaf Recipe . If you have access to ground deer meat, use that, you won’t be disappointed! Now on to the Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Gravy. I’ve never seen grown men so excited about a starch. We had a guest Zack join us for dinner and my husband and Zack were going crazy for mashed potatoes…If I were single, this is what I would make for a man I was trying to impress by the way these two were acting. Edward couldn’t keep his hands off of me while I was making these potatoes! I also made Okra Fries to accompany this meal, it doesn’t get better than meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and a green vegetable to fatten/warm you up on a winter night. I’ve decided I’m not getting on the scale until January, too many holidays and good food to eat until then. Here is the meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Recipe… You can find the Okra Fries Recipe on my blog, posted right before this post.
