I hope you are all have a good summer of photography. Here are some suggestions for places to visit if you are struggling to find subjects for next season’s “set subject” competitions:

  • The National Mining Museum have added a Headframe Tour to their repertoire, offering great views over the surrounding countryside. The pithead and engines also might be the place to find some “circles and squares” subjects.
  • Prestongrange Museum is also a good place to find mining equipment and railway engines.
  • Here are some good places to find woodland scenery:
    • River Esk Walkway
    • Butterdean Wood
    • Pressmennan Wood
    • Seton Dean Wood
    • The woodland walk along the Yester Pathfrom Giffordto Yester Castle.
  • The Air show at the National Museum of Flight takes place on 22nd July 2017. This might be a good opportunity to capture movement.

  • 17th August 2017: Okello Dunkley has advertised a Low light photography workshop in Edinburgh
