Oja

RATED: 3.0

Oja is one of your typical eateries where you will find an equal share of Japanese and Korean style dishes that you can find in many establishments around Toronto.
On this night, we as a group had a variety of dishes at the table ranging from basic veggie dumplings to wakame salad.
I selected the classic bento box dinner with sushi and tempura that was pretty generic but nice.  The tempura were hot right out of the kitchen and included an equal amount of veggie and shrimp tempura.
On the Korean side, one of our group had the Jap Chae which features fried glass noodles with veggies.  You could have added beef but the alternative was not suggested.
Some of the highlights from this restaurant could be on the special roll menu with interesting variations such as a roll that come to your table flaming.  Another person selected the spicy banana roll which seems unusual but pretty much tastes like your typical roll with a slice of banana on top with a spicy sauce.
Service was a bit slow this evening but if you are with a group and enjoying a meal and conversation, then that does not bother me in the least.
Finally a key feature is its location (very close to Yonge/Bloor) in case you don’t want to go too far for the listed menu options.  Good to know for something quick and affordable.
