Delhi already feels good and nippy with a mild chill in the air. The party season is just about to kick off, with festivals, then winters and cant wait for my favourite time of the year i.e. Christmas!! For us bengali’s, festivals mean indulgence, we love eating, celebrating and feeding others with as much love. So here I am, sharing all my favorite party food recipes before the season arrives! This one is my favourite and one of my most tried and tested recipes. When you’re hosting a party at home, its nice to know that people remember the party for the food that was served. Try something thats not usually made at house parties like umm…bacon wrapped prawns!! And I will show you how to make the recipe in three different ways ????
1. Butter garlic prawns
2. Prawns in chili lemon
3. Tandoori prawns
Follow the steps below, and for each variation of prawns, only step 2 may be changed. All your guests would love ’em!!
Recipe: You will need – 250 gms prawns (medium sized), washed, cleaned, deveined.
This recipe has no precise measurements, so feel free to change the quantities. A rough guidance will be 25 grams of butter, 10 – 15 garlic cloves (very finely chopped), salt and pepper and lightly sautéd bacon slices.
Step 1 – Boil the prawns carefully for a little less than 5 mins (shouldn’t turn rubbery). Drain out the water.
Step 2 – Toss the prawns in butter, very finely chopped garlic, salt and black pepper.
Step 3 – Separately, sauté bacon slices, lightly, in its own oil, such that the strips stay straight and do not curl up.
Step 4 – Wrap each bacon slice around a prawn and pin it with a tooth pick.
Serve the butter garlic prawns in bacon with wasabi mayo / a combination of mayo- mustard dip. Even a bbq sauce would compliment the dish really well.
Other versions of the prawns are –
Option 2 – Chili lemon prawns in bacon blankets: Toss the prawns in olive oil lemon juice, garlic, coriander and green chillies and then wrap the bacon around it. Serve with a hung curd dip.
Option 3 – Tandoori prawns in a blanket: Sauté the prawns in refined oil, a grainy paste (no added water) of ginger garlic, and tandoori masala. Smoke it little bit by dropping a piece of coal if you have. The prawns should be well grilled and charred. Then wrap the bacon. Serve with a mustard dip.
