The Knife of Never Letting Go, Book Review

I liked this book so much I can’t even find the right gif to show you my reaction. Just picture me hugging an opened novel to my chest and beaming at the sky. And maybe a few tears eke out of my eyes.

I read The Knife of Never Letting Go as quickly as possible, stopping only for necessary things like eating and hugs from my baby girl.

Todd Hewitt lives on New World, a planet far from Earth, in the only town left after the Spack war and Prentisstown is full of men. The Noise germ sent out by the Spack killed all of the women and turned men into 24 hour broadcast stations of their own inner monologue. Todd’s guardian Ben sends him to the swamp for black apples where a normal and a strange thing happen: Todd gets roughed up by the preacher Aaron and Todd hears a hole in the Noise…

I can’t even summarize this book for you or I will tell you the whole story. The book itself had burn marks and used different handwriting to really bring you into the New World. Patrick Ness writes a damn good story and the ending was infuriatingly awesome. I wanted to go to the library right then and check out the other books in the series.

Mr. Ness, where ever you may be. You deserve a righteous high five.
